Firewalls - Berliner Brandmauern

Firewalls are typical parts of the old and yet the new Berlin cityscape. They separate buildings from each other and prevent the spread of fire between them. Due to the ever continuing construction boom in Berlin, these walls are vanishing more and more.
The photographies demonstrate that these walls do not only serve architectural and fire preventing purposes but also reveal a picturesque life of their own.
